Charities & Giving

Solefield has an outstanding history of supporting a variety of local, national and international charities. At Solefield we place a strong importance on helping others and we aim to educate our boys to become compassionate, caring individuals. By participating in a variety of fundraising activities and events each year, we hope that our pupils will learn that they can make a difference to the lives of others and that by working together we can help bring about change. Each year a Year 8 Charities Prefect is appointed to assist with the organisation and delivery of Solefield fundraising events.

As always, we are extremely grateful for the extraordinary generosity of our Parents which enables our charitable work to thrive and continue. Some of the recent charities that Solefield has raised money for include:

  • The Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal
  • Copper Trail in aid of The AWARE Foundation, India
  • Harvest Appeal: Food was to the Loaves and Fishes Food Bank Charity, Sevenoaks
  • We sponsored three snow leopards in the Kangchenjunga Conservation Area, Nepal and a Qinling panda in Shaanxi, China for a year
  • Year 8 ‘Mini Market’ for Save the Children – Ebola Fund, Cancer Research UK and Help for Heroes
  • Solefield Ladies Cancer Research UK Race for Life Team
  • Nepal earthquake appeal: donations of food, clothes, blankets and medicine flown to Nepal and funds transferred directly to our contacts in Nepal to buy hand tools
  • ‘Onesie Wednesday’ for World Autism Awareness Day
  • Charity rugby tournament in aid of the Hospice in the Weald in memory of Carolyn Sambruck
  • Charity Judo match in aid of Help for Heroes
  • Christmas Carol Service retiring collection in aid of Medecins San Frontieres (Doctors without Borders)
  • Easter Service retiring collection for St Mary Kippington thank you donation
  • Christmas Carol Service retiring collection for the Naturally Africa Foundation
  • Mr Philp’s Ultra-marathon (100km) for Cancer Research UK
  • Dress and Talk like a Pirate Day for Cancer Research UK
  • Cake Sale for the British Red Cross Typhoon Haiyan Appeal
  • Harvest Appeal: Food was donated to the Spring House Family Centre, Sevenoaks
