Solefield Parents' Association (SPA)The Solefield Parents' Association (SPA) was formed in June 2009 to foster links between parents and Solefield and to raise funds for the school. Please do check this page regularly as you will find here lots of news about what we have done and are planning to do and the projects for which we have raised funds. Past EventsFriday 4th May, was the Years 7 and 8 Disco with Solefield Year 6 invited, held at the Solefield School Hall. It was a wonderful evening and a lot of fun was had! Other schools from around Sevenoaks were invited and not only did all enjoy snacks and a drink, but some great meeting, socialising and dancing was had too! Thanks to all the parents for their help.
Tuesday 27th March - Sponsored Walk: our biennial school sponsored walk, which took place in the stunning Knole Park on a gorgeous sunny Spring day for all the boys. The boys walked a 5km course as many times as they could during the event and far surpassed their target distance of 2,012 kms - walking a total of 2,486 km - a huge congratulations!
It was wonderful to see so many staff, parents and family members there supporting the boys by cheering them on as well as doing a lap (or several) themselves! Well done to all!
The Curry and Music Night on Friday 16th March was a huge success! It was a most entertaining evening, full of exciting performances by both parents and staff alike! There was talent in abundance, including the Solefield Parent Choir, our very own Headmaster, Mr Philps, and the staff band, along with many other varied and exciting musical acts. The curry was delicious too, made by one of our parent chefs, Helen Townsend assisted by SPA President Emma Holden. Thanks to all involved.
The Annual Christmas Fair was a huge success on Monday 12th December 2011.
The Annual Quiz Night happened on Saturday 12th November which continued the tradition of being a fun night out and an excellent way to raise money for the school. There was record attendance and our thanks go especially to Bob Townsend who stepped in at the last minute to assume the difficult role of Quiz Master!
In the Autumn term, we organised the Big Band Night, which was a fantastic evening with Hog Roast and a candlelit Champagne Tent and featuring "The Sole Survivors", the resident staff band, and "Jonah's Wail". To quote one parent's feedback ... "just a quick message to say thank you all for a wonderful evening ... it was just such a classic Solefield evening - you were legendary and lovely and really rather good too."
