SportSport plays a huge role in the life of Solefield School. There is an annual Inter-House Sports Day. Each term, there is also a full fixture list against other Preparatory Schools and Senior Schools, in football, rugby, and cricket. We aim to ensure that all boys in Year 4 and above represent the school in a team. TournamentsIn the Easter Term Solefield hosts an annual Rugby Tournament inviting ten other local Preparatory Schools to participate in a full day of rugby matches at our West Heath pitches. We also send teams to various Football Tournaments and particiapte in the National Judo Championships at High Wycombe at both Junior and Senior level. Physical EducationEveryone in the school has at least one P.E. lesson a week. During these lessons a variety of skills are developed, ball games are played and elementary gymnastics learnt. Throughout the school there are also two afternoons of games each week in which the major games of football, rugby and cricket are taught alongside athletics, hockey, short tennis, swimming, cross-country and basketball. JudoSolefield is rightly famous for its success at Judo.
We are unique by timetabling this exacting sport in Years 3 and 4 into our curriculm as well as having a thriving after school club. Several of our pupils have represented the school in national competitions and Solefield boys are currently the IAPS national champions.
This photo shows the team who represented the School at the IAPS National Judo Championship. The haul of 4 golds, 1 silver and 2 bronzes from 8 weight categories was the highest in recent times and saw Solefield also lift the National Team Trophy.
