The School DayThe school day begins with registration at 8:25 a.m.. Regular morning assemblies consist of a hymn, and a presentation, usually by a Year 8 boy on a topic of his choice. Solefield welcomes boys of all denominations. Lunch is a substantial meal prepared by our own staff in the school kitchens. In the Junior School, the end of the day is staggered, with Reception pupils finishing at 3:00 p.m., Years 1 & 2 finishing at 3:15 p.m., and Year 3 finishing at 3:30 p.m.. To assist parents, so they do not have to do more than one pick up, there is a late class for Junior boys who are waiting for their elder brothers in the Senior part of the school. This finishes at 4.00 pm after which time, if you are unavoidably delayed, you can collect your son from the School Office.
In the Senior School, everyone finishes at 4:00 p.m., subject to their school commitments such as matches. Boys in Year 8 are expected to remain at school until 5:20 p.m. to complete their prep in the prep room, supervised by a member of staff. Clubs for Year 4 and above are also available at this time.
On Saturday there is school for Year 8 from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. Very occasionally there are school matches on Saturdays; all boys selected are expected to represent the school. In order to help families plan in advance a school calendar for the following term is issued to all parents at the end of every term. Any amendments to this printed calendar will be displayed on the online calendar or notified to parents via the regular School newsletter, The Acorn. |
