This week we celebrated 'National School Meals Week’ and used it as the perfect opportunity to thank the hard working Holroyd Howe kitchen team at Solefield. Every day they prepare delicious healthy school lunches for the lucky Solefield boys. This past week we have enjoyed honey roast gammon, roasted vegetable frittata, lasagne, chicken curry and vegetable risotto, along with many other delicious meals!
The kitchen team has worked tirelessly this term to ensure that it is ‘service as usual’ despite the many additional challenges due to Covid. This includes four lunch sittings to ensure the bubbles are kept apart, social distancing in the dining hall and kitchen, screens and floor stickers to help the boys stay well back when their food is being served, and enhanced cleaning between each sitting.
At Solefield, we know that enjoying a nutritious school meal at lunchtime supports academic attainment, helps children to concentrate better and has a positive impact on behaviour in the classroom. So our thanks to Jane, Kadine and Amy for all their hard work this term.
