For the fourth year running, Solefield School has participated in 'UK Parliament Week' - a national initiative aimed at providing students with an insight into how the UK Government is run and managed. Students enthusiastically engaged in a wide variety of activities as they explored different aspects of UK Parliament. They impressed both teachers and peers by demonstrating strong debating and presentation skills and found that collaboration was a key factor when striving to achieve their common goals.
The Year 6 boys created their own fictional political parties, designed their party rosettes and delivered their manifestoes through virtual Zoom hustings, providing all Solefield boys with the opportunity to cast their votes. Finally we rounded our week off by looking at a video campaign some Year 8 students put together in which they set out their vision of the importance of having 'skills for life'. Please view the short video below.
It has been a pleasure for staff to see just how our students continue to go from strength to strength, develop their confidence and take a real interest in the world around them. Very well done boys!
