The Governors are delighted to announce the appointment of Helen McClure as the new Headteacher of Solefield School, starting in September 2020, following the announcement that the current Headteacher, Dougal Philps, will be retiring at the end of this academic year. Dougal says “It’s been a privilege leading the school for the last 14 years, we had an Excellent ISI report in December and I know Helen will continue to take the school from strength to strength.”
Helen has been Deputy Head of Academic at Solefield for the last 11 years and is well known to many parents and boys already.
“I am delighted to be taking over the Headship of Solefield School, taking the school that I love through to its next stage. Having worked alongside Dougal for many years, I fully understand the nurturing and caring atmosphere that imbues it.
It is the happiest school I have ever worked in and I am very proud to say that I will be leading it into the future. In doing so, I will maintain its traditional caring and gentle ethos whilst providing the boys with a valuable, all-round education and continuing to build on our academic success at 11+ and 13+”.
Helen is looking forward to meeting and speaking to current parents, and welcoming new families to the school.
