GovernanceIn 1986 the school became a charitable non-profit-making Educational Trust, under the guidance of a Board of Governors. The governing body consists of people with considerable experience in business and academic life. Many of them are parents or ex-parents of boys at school. The Headmaster is a member of the Incorporated Association of Preparatory Schools (I.A.P.S.) and a qualified I.S.I. Schools Inspector. In their 2011 report the Independent Schools Inspectorate stated that the "quality of governance, leadership and management is excellent". The Board of Governors
Mr Rob Clewley - Chairman A.C.M.A. - Past parent Rob has been proud to be associated with Solefield since 1993, initially as the father of three boys who each benefited from a wonderful education at the school, and since 1999 as a Governor and Chairman of the Finance Committee. He was elected Chairman of the Board of Governors in 2004, and retains the roles of Chairman of the Administration and Health and Safety Committee, and membership of the Finance Committee. Mr Andrew Edwards M.A. - Past parent, Upper Master at Tonbridge School After studying at Cambridge University, Andrew worked in London for Christie's, the Art Auctioneers, before moving to Munich. In 1985 he was appointed to the English Department at Tonbridge School, and became a Boarding Housemaster (School House) in 1996. Since 2009 he has been the Upper Master at Tonbridge.A father of four children, he was delighted with the 8 happy and fulfilling years that his son enjoyed while at Solefield School, and since 2001 he has been proud to serve as a Governor. Andrew serves on the Education Committee and is particularly interested in all matters of Teaching and Learning. L.L..B. - Current parent B.Sc., A.C.A., F.B.I.I. - Past parent Paul Wigham is a Chartered Accountant with a background in a variety of commercial roles. Paul has held a variety of CEO posts in the licensed retail and IT sectors. He has worked in both quoted and VC funded IT businesses with a service bias up to £50m turnover. He holds a number of non-executive directorships in licensed retail, software and marketing businesses and he is managing partner of a consulting and financial management advisory business. Mike read History at Lancaster University and trained as a teacher at Sussex University. He has taught at two State Schools and is currently Deputy Headmaster at Sevenoaks School, where he was also a boarding housemaster. He lives in Sevenoaks with his wife, who is a Headmistress. He was Chairman of Governors at a local Primary School, is a Governor at The Wildernesse School and is assisting with the development of the Knole Academy. He is Chairman of the Trustees at Sevenoaks Almshouses. He has been a Governor at Solefield for ten years and chairs the Education Committee. F.C.A. - Current parent Fiona Neicho has been a parent governor of the school since June 2006, serving on both the main board and the Finance Committee. Previously she served as Form Representative for five years. Fiona is a chartered accountant, employed locally in both general practice and industry. Her association with Solefield School began over 40 years ago when her brother was a pupil at the school; more recently she has educated her two sons at Solefield. B.Ed, M.A., F.R.S.A., (I.A.P.S.) - Headmaster, Priory Prep School, Banstead Graham Malcolm has been Headmaster at Priory Preparatory School in Banstead since September 2000. He joined the Governing Body in September 2008 and is on the Education Committee. He has a Bachelor of Education degree and a Masters Degree in Educational Management. He has been an Inspector of Schools since 2002, inspecting Independent Schools across the country.As a member of the IAPS he has been on the National Sports Committee with specific responsibility for football. He is married with two children at Independent Boarding Schools. Graham and his wife, who is a teacher, live locally. Mrs Sarah Thomson Sarah is a parent of three boys who have attended Solefield School, one still present. She has founded a number of media related businesses; these include Ebiquity a media intelligence business which floated in 2000, First News, the national Children's newspaper, Priority One an IT services business and beaddictive a newly launching social media site for brands. In addition Sarah is a consultant to YouGov and sits on the board of Bloomsbury Publishing.
