This morning, we held a meaningful Remembrance Service, led by our Year 8 pupils. During the service, they read poignant poems, which were followed by a 2-minute silence. The ceremony was completed with the moving sound of The Last Post.
Thank you to all the pupils, parents, and staff for your generous donations to the Royal British Legion.
In English, year 3 wrote a class acrostic poem after collecting ideas about Remembrance Day:
3C: Remembrance Day Acrostic poem
Ruined buildings and land
Explosions, crashing and thundering
Men and women fought for our peace
Emotional people remembering the fallen
Memorials showing how many were sacrificed
Ban all wars, bring back hope
End the fights and suffering
Remember, wear your crimson red poppy
3H: Remembrance Day Acrostic poem
Reckless loss of lives, ruined land
Emotions shown on everyone’s faces
Memories of the soldiers who fought
Exploding bombs, many injured men
Metal weapons shooting, destruction
Bravery from the battlefields
Enemies fighting, still remembered
Remember the people who died in the wars
