Last Tuesday, Year 3 went to the BFI (British Film Institute) for a workshop about Roald Dahl. We were very happy to settle down in the comfy seats in one of the screening rooms, away from the windy day outside!
We enjoyed watching and discussing short film clips of different versions of the BFG, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and Matilda. We were asked to think about the use of music and sound effects to create tension, some of us had the opportunity to go up on stage and perform part of a script and others enjoyed answering questions into the microphone! We even had a few new giants introduce themselves from the BFG!
After lunch in the National Theatre, we walked across Blackfriars Bridge to Temple Church. The church is one of the most historic and beautiful churches in London. The Round Church was built by the Knights Templar in the 12th century, we enjoyed a quick tour around the church, looking out for statues of medieval knights!
Finally, we had a quick stop at Embankment Gardens before heading home.
Everyone was wonderfully behaved, managing to keep up with all the walking. Well done!
