Year 4 had a fantastic day at the National Gallery, exploring symbolism in paintings. During an engaging workshop, we examined a range of beautiful artworks, including one of Mrs Rogan’s favourites, The Ambassadors by Hans Holbein. We discovered how artists hide secret messages in their work, learning about symbols such as cats and eels - ask Year 4 to explain!
After lunch, we explored the gallery in small groups, sketching some of our favourite paintings. The children were particularly inspired by the amazing paintings. It was a memorable visit, and we are hoping to visit next year!
