Solefield were delighted to enter the IAPS U11 Regional Girls’ Football Tournament for the first time this year, with a team made up of Year 5 and 6 girls. The tournament, held at Royal Russell School, saw 16 schools from across the region come together for a fantastic day of competitive football.
The girls faced some challenging matches in the group stages and, despite working incredibly hard, were unable to secure a spot in the Cup qualifiers. This meant they progressed into the Plate competition, where they showed great determination and resilience to win their quarter-final, semi-final and ultimately the Plate Final.
Throughout the day, the girls worked tirelessly to win the ball back, create attacking opportunities and support one another. Captain Imogen led the team brilliantly, while Ems made some excellent saves in goal to keep the team in several important games. Anna and Jocelyn both found the back of the net, contributing crucial goals along the way.
It was fantastic to see the girls grow in confidence as the tournament progressed and finish the day as Plate winners. Their teamwork, perseverance and positive attitude were a real credit to them and to Solefield. A brilliant first IAPS regional tournament for our girls!
