Year 8 Residential to Isle of Wight

Barney Elrin, Year 8

22nd June 2023

The Isle of Wight was a very fun, interesting and amazing trip. I personally loved spending good time with my friends and going to all the amazing theme parks.

On the first day we arrived, we went to the zoo which was lots of fun because all the exotic, unique and extraordinary animals that lived there. My favourites were the tigers because of their exotic colours. We then went to a beach where we played 'one bounce', which is a game when you hit the ball into the air and you are allowed one bounce to catch it at hit it at someone else, but if the ball has more than one bounce the person catching is out. We then went to the place where we were staying, unpacked, had dinner and went to bed.

On the second day we woke up had a shower, got dressed and had breakfast. They served us cereal and a full English breakfast. We then hopped in the mini-bus and headed towards Robin Hill (which is basically a cross between Go-Ape and Chessington.) I particularly loved the rope park which is a big complex of rope hanging in the air where we played manhunt. We then went to the beach and had lots of fun playing volleyball and swimming in the sea. We then went back to the place where we were staying, had dinner and went to sleep.

The third day we woke up had a shower had breakfast and left to pursue this day’s adventure at Blackgang Chine, an amusement park. It had a plethora of rides ranging from water slides to the Extinction which was a ride which went 360 degrees swinging, and made you go upside down for a couple seconds. We had lunch and set of once more on our journey of fun. We stopped off at the beach for our final time and we went swimming and played many beach games. We then went bowling which was so much fun (despite my loss) and set off to laser tag. We raced around a play area shooting each other with laser guns. There were two teams and we even faced another school and won! We then went back to our accommodation and went to bed.

The fourth and final day, we woke up and packed up and had breakfast. We then did our final activity which was go carting. I think I was a bit throttle happy, as many of peers would agree as well. I crashed a couple times but managed to get a pretty good lap time. We then went on the ferry and set of home.
