Solefield Rugby Tournament

by JWC

Our Under11 A’s showed off their newfound belief and confidence during a very competitive day's rugby last Saturday. We started the tournament with a narrow loss to Belmont. The boys showed real endeavour to get back into the game. The spirit and determination from the boys showed signs of encouragement for what lay ahead.

The second game was one of the team's greatest performances that I have been privileged to witness. Against Sevenoaks Prep, the boys were on the front foot straight away, with a couple of early tries really setting the tone for the game. The pressure was relentless in defence with tenacity shown in the contact and especially at ruck time where the boys managed to gain some great turnovers. The speed of passing was excellent with some brilliant running throughout the game. The final score of 6-1 was quite magnificent! Well done boys!

The last fixture saw the boys come up against a very talented St. Michael’s team. The boys turned in a great performance filled with endeavour. It was no great shame to lose narrowly to the eventual winners.

Throughout the afternoon I cannot stress enough how proud I was of the spirit on show. Not only from the boys, but the parents and staff who supported, clapped and cheered throughout every game. Occasions like this really show the power of positivity, energy and passion in the Solefield family.
