The return of the sun this week happily coincided with the arrival of our new playhouse! The doorbell hasn't stopped ringing and it has led to the most adorable imaginative play amongst the children. Much of the contents of the play kitchen has now been transferred to the house and the excited chatter and giggles from inside has been a joy to witness.

The Friday swimmers had a wonderful first lesson with the whole class last week and have done fantastically again this morning. Not only is their water confidence coming on in leaps and bounds, but also their resilience and independence in getting themselves changed.

Well done to all your little ones on another busy week!

Our quote of the week

After we read ‘The Daddy Book’, the children were talking about what they like to do best with their Daddies.

From Freya ‘I like it when we wake up and go on the trampoline’.

Asees said ‘When we planted sunflowers together’.

Book of the week

When we discovered Julia Donaldson had written a book called 'The Oak Tree' - we had to get it for our Little Acorns! It tied in perfectly with our Outdoor Learning session as we often use the enormous trunk of an old oak tree to play on. The book also contains a sweet historical aspect, moving through the years and it provided a good opportunity to notice how different aspects of life change as time passes.

Why not see how many oak trees your child can spot if you head outdoors this weekend!

Special delivery for a special Daddy!

The Little Acorns have been very busy preparing a special card for delivery on Sunday!

It has been amazing to see how much all the children have progressed this term, not only in their fine motor skills, shown in their drawing and name writing, but also in their focus and resilience to complete a task with multiple steps.
We hope you enjoy seeing the results of their efforts, and have a wonderful family day!

Fun with fruit

Our topic on Summer has continued this week, and on Wednesday we had a go at making a fruit salad. The kitchen provided us with a selection of fruit, including some beautiful strawberries which the children then worked hard to prepare and cut up. Once finished, it was time to enjoy the fruits of their labour! Everyone tucked in, and many requested more - I think we easily hit our five a day!

Construction Area!

We did some tower-tastic building with a range of different blocks and bricks on Thursday. The children worked together beautifully coming up with all sorts of structures from bridges to skyscrapers. There was then the opportunity for lots of great comparative language about

Something to look forward to

Next week we will be enjoying lots of ice and water play to go with our next book, ‘Commotion in The Ocean’.
