The build up to the end of term is gathering pace and it is hard to believe we only have one full week of school left! The Little Acorns who are moving on to Reception suddenly look so grown up and ready for a new challenge. Those staying with us continue to strengthen their friendships and even for our newest joiners, it seems like they have always been here!
Wishing you all another warm, sunny and hopefully gentle weekend.
Congratulations!
Congratulations to Lewis who was awarded a resilience award this week for getting ready for school completely independently, including putting on his socks and doing his teeth! Well done Lewis, we are so proud of you!
Book of the week
This week we have been reading Sheldon's New Shell, by Lily Murray. It is a very sweet story about a crab looking for a new larger shell who gets into trouble when he tries a plastic bottle out for size.
There is a strong message about protecting marine life and I was heartened by how much the children could tell me about ways to protect our animals and recycle their rubbish. Please don't be surprised if there is a request to do a beach clean-up over the holidays!
Our quote of the week
Asees created this beautiful picture entirely independently and then announced ‘I made an owl!’! Fantastic Asees!
Wiggly fingers!

We have had a strong focus on fine motor skills this week, with lots of cutting, mark making and manipulating tools and small objects. This is crucial in preparation for writing. All tied in with our topic, the children have cut out and decorated their own paper sandcastles, made little cork boats using (at times very fiddly) elastic bands, and worked with clay, tools, and beads. All this is a great finger work out and amazing for dexterity and strength.
On Thursday, the children particularly enjoyed having the Year 8 boys in as 'TA's for the day' who were wonderful at helping with some name writing!

Something to look forward to
Next week we will be sharing the story ‘The Teddy Bears’ Picnic’. If your child comes to school on a Wednesday, please could they bring their favourite cuddly friend with them for a special snack time!
Reminders
*Please could all children have a named water bottle in school for snack and lunchtimes.
*If your Little Acorn comes to school on a Monday, please ensure they have suitable clothing for Outdoor Learning. We aim to get out whatever the weather!
