The final Little Acorns News of the year! It really has flown by and as we have finished off the books of those children moving on, it has been wonderful to reflect on the year and all the fun and learning that has taken place.

It has been an absolute pleasure, and privilege to watch your wonderful children grow and develop. They make us smile every day and it really does feel like a little family, with all the different characters having their place within the class dynamic. We have seen out the year with a wonderful trip to Bedgebury and a teddy bears' picnic.

We will miss the children moving on to their Reception classes hugely. Thank you for sharing your little ones with us, they have been an absolute joy.
For those Little Acorns returning in September, have a wonderful summer and we cant wait to see you back!

Book of the week

This week we have been reading The Teddy Bears' Picnic by Nicola Baxter. It was the perfect story to read in another week of beautiful weather and picnics at Bedgebury! It contained key words on each page, plenty of which the children had a go at sounding out for themselves.

Of course, the highlight was holding our very own Little Acorns' Teddy Bears' Picnic. We had quite the array of cuddlies from rainbows to snakes and the children all looked so proud showing us what they had brought. After lunch everyone set about making their jam sandwiches and then we shared them in the cool of the jungle room on the raised area of the playground. It wasn't 6 o'clock but there were definitely some tired little teddy bears (and children) heading home to bed!

Our quote of the week

This week from James ‘Do you know what my middle name is? The Brave! I’m James The Brave!’ That is wonderful James.

Beautiful Bedgebury

On Tuesday, we joined the rest of Pre-Prep for our trip to Bedgebury Pinetum. It coincided with the hottest of days, but we were so impressed, and proud of how the children coped, and enjoyed themselves. I couldn't believe it when four of them helped me push the camping trolley up the final hill of the day!

The heat was a great reminder to slow down and enjoy your surroundings. We moved at a gentle pace, with lots of stops for playing, climbing, exploring and of course snacks and drinks!

Just before lunch, Miss Adams read the children an excerpt from Winnie-the-Pooh in the shade of the trees before sharing their picnic together.
A Gruffalo hunt followed, and the forest was filled with happy squeals when he was finally spotted around a bend in the path.

We then took a slow stroll back to the café for a well deserved ice-cream. What a day!

Something to look forward to

We are so excited about putting all our training to the test at Sports Day on Monday!
