Spotlight on Mr Cramp

12th May 2021

New Director of Solefield Holiday Clubs

Describe to us this new part of your role?

The Fun-Zone at Solefield School will offer fantastic childcare for members and friends of the Solefield family during the holidays. Children (both boys and girls aged 4-13) will enjoy a wide range of activities and engage with members of our community, both in their year groups and beyond. Whether it is the perfect wind down to the end of term, or an excellent opportunity to meet new friends and ease back into school life before the start of term, children will experience a first-class service filled with excitement, care and most importantly… FUN!

Remind us of your current roles and how this new aspect will tie in with these.
I am also Head of History, Head of Houses and Head of Rugby. The roles that will tie in best with our Camps though are my roles within the Sports Department and as Head of Houses. These two positions are all about spreading the joy of activity and organising full school events in which our boys learn the benefits of working together and about partaking in some friendly competition.

How do you see this new position will benefit Solefield and the boys?
My principle aim with this position is to offer assistance to all members of our Solefield family. It will provide a great option for our parents who work during the holidays and are looking for ways to entertain their children in a safe and fun environment. It will also benefit our boys (and girls in the community) to enjoy action packed weeks of entertainment with their friends during the holidays.

Can you tell us a little bit about your background and specific areas of interest regarding this new role?
I have helped run similar camps to our Fun-Zone at other schools previously and believe I have a good grasp on what activities our pupils and their friends will enjoy. I also run a Cricket Camp at my local club, and so I understand what is needed from sport specific camps also as we introduce them.

What were your initial feelings when you were given the new role?
I am thrilled to be a part of what is a very exciting adventure for the school. I am passionate about ensuring that the family atmosphere at Solefield continues to thrive, and I feel this is yet another opportunity for us to build on the connections that the school has with its community.

Can you let us into some of your plans in the future?
Our aim is to include lots of subject specific camps as we go through the year. Our Fun-Zone camps will be based on multi-activities for those aged 5-11. These camps will run from 9am-4pm, but in order to best serve the Solefield family, we will be offering a Wraparound Care service from 7:30am to 6pm as well. As we learn even more about what is required from our camps, we will look to add specific camps including: computing, football and early years, which will run alongside our Fun-Zone camp to ensure that all of our community are catered for.
