Works are progressing well. The top surface of the new foundation has been treated with a specialist paint to make it ready for the underfloor heating and final flooring in due course. As you can see the steel frame is now erected (which has been quite noisy but fun to watch!) and the brickwork that has been damaged to fix this will be tidied up once brickwork commences. The complicated scaffolding structure has been put up and the carpenters have started to put in the first floor joists which will create the connecting flat roof next to the old library and they have put in the joists for the balcony as well. The original external timber panelling has been removed at first floor level and this will eventually be replaced with plasterboard and acoustic panelling. The bricklayers have started to build the walls and will continue to work on making sure that the building is weather proof as soon as possible! We are waiting for the glass “cupola” which will sit right at the top of the building to be made and delivered. We hope that the next instalment of our development video will be ready for viewing shortly.
